Building on previous year’s achievements, this year makes no exception, Around 250 members of Rotary and Rotaract clubs among which our dear governor Mr Ussama Barghouti, his wife Mrs Lina, Past governor Samir Seikaly and from Egypt PP Dr. Salwa Haddad , Rotarian families and friends participated on Sunday November 27 in The Beirut Marathon 2011. The event was coordinated by Rotary Club of Beirut Phoenix with the collaboration of ‘Sports 4ever’, under the slogan “Donate life…”. Each year Members and families run for a cause, this year Rotary Lebanon’s aim was to build awareness for organ donation in Lebanon and to raise funds to help NOOTDT an organ donation association to buy a refrigerator and the necessary supplies to prevent the shortage of serum necessary for transplantation which is crucial to save lives… and it was an amazing success everybody enjoyed the experience…

The Phoenicians were the first to introduce the wine-making technology to the ancient world and spread their knowledge to the other civilizations! Proud of our ancestors’ legacy we took along with some 50 friends a memorable trip of wineries visit, wine tasting and degustation on Sunday November 13th, 2011.
Our wine tour started in the morning heading to North of Lebanon with a visit to the convent of the “Peres trappistes” known for their traditional winery and their delicious breakfast “Petit dejeuner du terroir”. Then we headed to Adyar winery famous for their organic wine, along with a visit to the historical monastery of Kfifan that was built in year 717.
And our next stop was at the Aurora winery with another round of in-house tasting. Our final stop was lunch at ‘Al Taleh’ restaurant an organic Lebanese restaurants along with open wine from our fine selection. The weather was amazing the group had a blast. Thank you all for your participation!
Rotary Club of Beirut Phoenix is committed to the preservation of our heritage and environment . The funds collected are allocated to our environmental project “Rebirth of the Reef”.

As every year since 2009 Rotary Club of Beirut Phoenix organizes Rotary and Rotaract and handles all the logistics for participation in the Beirut Marathon. Each year the funds raised are donated to a cause this year we are running for Organ Donation. With the funds raised we will help NOOTDT an organ donation association to buy a refrigerator and the necessary supplies to prevent the shortage of serum necessary for transplantation which is crucial to save lives.
If each one of us brings in 4 friends, co-workers, employees at his company to register for the (Nov. 27) Beirut Marathon under Rotary Lebanon, 500 Rotarians and Rotaractors could become 2,500 Rotary fans running under the colors of Rotary.
Please email or call any of the below contacts from RC Beirut Phoenix (who are handling all the logistics from registration to donations to fundraising to T-Shirts/Caps printing etc..)

Mr Ignace Mouawad giving the presentation on Rotary Basics
Welcome back all!!
A new Rotarian year has started hopefully it will be a fruitful and successful year…
Our first project was a recruitment meeting held at Monroe Hotel on July 19th. Past Governor Ignace Mouawad and Assistant Governor David Zein attended the meeting along with a lot of interested guests. Mr Ignace started by a very interesting presentation on Rotary Basics and shared some of his 28 years of personal Rotary experience. It was followed by the RCBP presentation on the achievements of the club and future projects given by the Head of PR Committee Hilda Abla and finally Mr. Ziad Samaha from Purple Reef gave us very insightful information on the Artificial Reef the objectives, procedures, the dos and the don’ts..
A big thank you for the guests who attended and hope to see you in our future meetings…

On the weekend of June 4-5, RCBP organized a handing over week end in Hotel Central Dhour Choweir. The event included a drama team building session given by fellow member Hilda Abla on Saturday afternoon. In this session our talented members exposed their acting skills as well as had fun. On June 5 the handing over lunch was held at Lola’s were members enjoyed a lovely lunch and fellowship activities. We would like to thank President Safa for all her endeavors and congratulate her for a very successful year as well as all the members who helped out. Also Assistant Governor Mrs. Yara Younes for all her support. Finally, I would like to wish President Patrick Bou Nassif and all RCBP members to carry on the torch and have a very productive year…
An interesting presentation was given this week by Mr Danny Abla Founder and CEO of Pin-Pay and Mr Sebastien Waking Business Development Director of Pin-Pay on Mobile Banking and Mobile Payment. During the presentation Mr. Wakim explained what the service is, how it functions, the different kinds of products offered and the advantages for customers and NGOs to have this service. What Pin-Pay does, is that it links your mobile number to your bank account number. He added that the benefits of Pin-Pay services is that it’s easy, convenient, reliable and most importantly secure. With Pin-Pay application you can do different transactions such as paying another person through your mobile, performing an account balance, transferring money from one of your accounts to another, recharge your prepaid phone or any other prepaid phone and your IDM ADSL Internet account. Many more services are to be launched soon.
Also he explained the steps for registration which includes 3 easy ones:
1-Registering at any the Bank Audi (as the service is only provided at Audi Bank at the moment)
2-Downloading the application which takes around 30 seconds (this step can be also done by following the link, or scanning the bar code on the website)
3-Activating the application after receiving the 16-digit activation code and choosing your M-PIN
Once this SMS is received you will be ready to Pin-Pay!
He ended the session by presenting a simulation of one of the services and the meeting ended by two Bank Audi customers registering to the service!
